Subject: In Memoriam - Vera Miller

Vera Miller

Thanks to all of you who have prayed over the years for our family, and particularly for my mother-in-law, who passed away earlier today.  She died serenely and gave evidence in her life, in her prolonged suffering, and in her death, that she had a vital connection to Jesus Christ.  I don't know about the foot-washing part, but except for that, the verse cited below is a biographically accurate description of how she lived her life.

Mom was the second of four children and was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, and one of her five children.  She was a baptized believer and a committed member of the Church of Christ (non-instrumental) where she was well-known for her regular attendance at church services, mid-week Bible studies, conferences, lectureships, musical events and similar activities.  After Sunday service, the common suggestion was "Let's go over to Sister Miller's" and her dining room was rarely empty and usually packed.  Mom worked for American Motors, which was bought out by Chrysler.  She sustained work-related injuries and retired in 1991.

The funeral will be held in Racine, Wisconsin on Friday, March 28th.  A memorial service will be conducted at the Brooks Avenue Church of Christ in Raleigh, North Carolina on Saturday, May 3rd.

"...the wife of one man, having a reputation for good works; she has brought up children,
has shown hospitality to strangers, has washed the saints' feet, has assisted those
in distress, and has devoted herself to every good work."
- 1 Timothy 5:10
