News: Supreme Court States the Bleeding Obvious

Larken Rose

The fact that there was a case at all is a testament to the effectiveness of tyrant propaganda.

Larken Rose

June 26, 2008 - In the news today, top mathematicians have determined that two plus two equals four, top theologians proclaim that the Pope is Catholic, and the U.S. Supreme Court declares that the Second Amendment is about an individual's right to keep and bear arms.  In other news of the bleeding obvious...

While gun rights proponents are celebrating today's ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court (and leftists are making their usual predictions of mayhem and death), I'd like to point out how profoundly idiotic it was for there to ever be a QUESTION about the issue in the first place.

"Golly gee, I think that when the Constitution says that the PEOPLE have a right to peaceably assemble, it only means the NATIONAL GUARD has the right to peaceably assemble.  And the Fourth amendment means you can't raid National Guard buildings without a warrant, and the Fifth means you can't coerce someone in the National Guard to testify against himself."

As stupid as that sounds, it is exactly the position held by the leftists regarding the Second Amendment:  that when it says "THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE," it really means "the right of those who are in the National Guard."  And, insanely, FOUR of the nine Supreme Court justices apparently agreed today!

The fact that there was a case at all is a testament to the effectiveness of tyrant propaganda.  Through repetition and the lunacy of self-proclaimed "experts," a truly idiotic claim  --  that the Second Amendment ISN'T about an individual's rights  --  was passed off as something respectable, or at least debatable.

It's one thing if someone doesn't like the Second Amendment, but to pretend it means the OPPOSITE of what it says is the sign of insanity.  How does one with even a half dozen brain cells read "RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE" and "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" to mean "the government can disarm people"?  Once again, I feel compelled to quote from my own book, How To Be a Successful Tyrant:

Expert Indoctrination

Peasants don't like to think for themselves.  They like to be told what to think, after which they feel "informed" because they can spout back the tripe spoon-fed to them by their betters.  That is what so-called "experts" are for:  to tell the masses what they should think.

Of course, someone who simply says he is an "expert" isn't enough.  He needs to have impressive "credentials" to give his opinions credibility.  (This impresses most peasants, though some realize that what credentials usually indicate is that the person has spent his whole life in "learning institutions" and not in the real world.)  It is amazing how an utterly idiotic message can be persuasive if the messenger appears credible and knowledgeable.  "Today we are delighted to have in our studios Professor Eugene Wellington Horglesnunkle, Ph.D., M.D., A.B.C., to give a nonsensical and long-winded explanation of why government should control more aspects of our lives."

....

You should build up a collection of "experts" to sell to the public every facet of your totalitarian agenda.  Have a "Constitutional scholar" who can say with confidence that the Second Amendment means that peasants shouldn't have guns.  Have a "professor of economics" who proclaims that all the peasants will starve unless you control the economy.  Have a "doctor of sociology" to announce that regulating everything is good for society.  Have an education "expert" with half a dozen degrees say that any kid who doesn't go to your indoctrination camps ("public schools") will be maladjusted, ignorant, and violent.  If your "experts" look educated, intelligent and concerned, they can spout the most inane tripe and the peasants will accept it as reasonable, if not indisputable.

-----------------< end quote >-----------------

In short, I'm not sure whether to celebrate today's victory for the truth, or mourn just how utterly stupid the "debate" has become.

StumbleUpon Toolbar STUMBLE IT!
