An electrifying story ...
Larken Rose This book has the potential to change the direction of this country.
March 23, 2009 - I wrote a novel. So what? Perhaps you, like me, tend to think of fiction as mere entertainment, which doesn't matter much when you're busy keeping up with the important issues in the world. However, it IS possible to use a story about people who never existed, in a situation that never happened, to convey real TRUTH. And, if I may be so bold, I believe my first novel (third book), The Iron Web, does just that. The book, written mostly while I was in prison, has finally been completed, and is now at the printers. The problem now is that almost anything I said about the book would either be a spoiler, or would tell you nothing about WHY the book is worth reading. About the only thing I can think of to do at the moment is to quote OTHER people saying what they thought of it (again, without telling you what the story's about). Two reviewers — who just HAPPEN to be my parents — called the book a "gripping story" with "interwoven threads of excitement and danger," that will keep you wanting to know what happens next. Another reviewer — who just HAPPENS to be my wife — said the book is "intensely packed with action, danger, and emotion," and that "you won't want to put it down until you know the outcome." Okay, so those reviewers might be a tiny bit biased. But hey, I was somewhat limited in the comments I could quote, since only about a half dozen people in the world have a copy of the book at the moment. Another editor — someone NOT related to me — said this: "I am so excited about this book being out there; it has the potential to change the direction of this country if enough people read it and take it to heart," and also called the book "an amazing amalgam of profound reasoning and an electrifying story." Though the book is generally aimed at adults, I kept it in the "PG- 13" range (if it were a movie), so that older children (like mine) could read it. However, the book will probably upset a lot of people who read it, not because of the usual offensive things that books and movies do, but because this book was intended to confront people with ideas that they aren't comfortable thinking about. Anyway, I'll be picking up the first 500 copies from the printers probably in the first week of May (in a little over a month), and I decided I might as well start taking pre-orders now, for those who want to get a copy as soon as it is out. Once I have the books, I will fill orders in the order they were received. Until the web site for the book is up and running (which will be soon), there are only two ways to pre-order it: 1) Send $15 via PayPal to "cartoonlion@hushmail.com" Larken Rose Of course, when the book is available, which (again) should be in the first week of May, I'll be letting you all know. But if anyone wants to barge to the front of the line by pre-ordering, now is your chance.
