Subject: Confirmation of the Covenant

As you know, I've gone long and hard on my conclusion that the confirmation of the covenant is something Jesus will do at the beginning of Daniel's 70th week.  Most who speculate on this confirmation cite Daniel 9, but that is not the only place that scripture speaks of the confirmation of a covenant.  It also is discussed, and actually more fully, in Leviticus 26.

The LORD states a number of blessings that will be enjoyed by His people, then says "FOR I will ....confirm My covenant with you."

I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none will make you afraid;
I will rid the land of evil beasts, and the sword will not go through your land.

You will chase your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword before you.

Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight;
your enemies shall fall by the sword before you.

‘For I will look on you favorably and make you fruitful, multiply you and confirm My covenant with you.   Leviticus 26:6-9
The word "for" indicates that the items preceding will take place as a result of or as a consequence of the reasons that follow:  His looking favorably on them, making them fruitful, multiplying them, and confirming His covenant with them.

Therefore, there is no need to speculate on whether the "covenant" is a process, a ritual, or a 7-year peace treaty.  The correct answer:  "None of the above."  It is a sovereign act of grace by God (not the Antichrist) to His covenant people (the children of Israel, according to the flesh).

Best,

Steve
