Subject: Happy New Year (a week late)

The Jewish Hillel calendar says the first day of the first month was Tuesday 3/12 at sunset, and therefore Passover (Pesach), the 14th day, will be from sunset on Monday 3/25 to sunset Tuesday – which will be the start of the 7 days of Unleavened Bread (Chag HaMatzot).  Two of the errors the Jews have in their calendar is calling the whole 8 day period Passover, and fixing the date of third feast to the 16th (and barely recognizing it).

Assuming the month actually starts at the sighting of the moon (the Karaite method), the first day started on Wednesday 3/13 at sunset and Passover will be from sunset on Tuesday 3/26 to sunset Wednesday which starts Unleavened Bread.  I still can’t conclusively say which method is correct.

Either way, since Leviticus 23 tells us the third appointed time (feast) called Firstfruits (Bikkurim) is to be on the day after the weekly Sabbath during Unleavened Bread, this places it on Sunday 3/31 starting at sunset the night before – which coincides this year with the Christian Easter (Resurrection Day).  Jesus (Yahshua) partly fulfilled Bikkurim by his resurrection, and I think there will more fulfillment.

I believe that Elohim’s grand scheme is to follow His calendar for all major events.  Much evidence supports this.  I think that creation started on the first day of the first month in the spring and Adam and Chewah were in the garden for 7 years (according to Jubilees) and left the garden in the first month.

I think that Exodus 12:2 was a correction, not a change, to the calendar because they had adopted the Egyptian calendar while there.  I think that the two distinct phrases in 12:2 mean the years are to be counted from then also, making 1/1 the real Rosh HaShanah (head of the year).

I think that Jesus read Isaiah 61:1-2a (recorded in Luke 4) on the day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) to “proclaim the acceptable year of YHWH“ starting in the spring to last just one year (not the unsupported tradition of 3.5 years) and that he died on Passover one year later (30 AD).

My favorite hypothesis is that the final seven year period before he physically comes back to earth (to reign for the seventh 1000 year day of the LORD) will start and end on the first month, meaning that history will repeat itself.  Jesus was the firstfruit (singlular in Greek in 1 Corinthians 15:20) and when he “proclaim(ed) liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison to them that are bound” (Luke 4) he took the righteous from Abraham’s Bosom in Sheol to heaven as the first firstfruits on Firstfruits, he will again take the righteous “which sleep in Jesus” to heaven on the very same day.  This means that following that event those “which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds” (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17).

Jesus said to her, 'I AM the resurrection and the life [Zoe = life].  He who believes in Me, though he may die [Apothane = physical death], he shall live [Zesatai = to live, future tense].  And whoever lives [Zon = to live, present tense] and believes in Me shall never die [Apothane = physical death]Do you believe this?' – John 11:25-26

Could my favorite hypothesis be wrong?  Of course.  Do I know which year?  No, but this year could be the one.  We can hope.

I know some of the above goes against many traditions but I have labored hard to find the roots of tradition and favor truth whenever tradition is evidentially wrong – as it often is.

My beloved spoke, and said to me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.  For, see, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone.  The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.  The fig tree puts forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell.  Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away. – Song of Solomon 2:10-13

Then we can sing to Jesus together:

Younger than springtime am I, gayer than laughter am I, angel and lover, heaven and earth, am I with you. – Song of South Pacific 1949
