How willing should we be to oppress and kill innocent people to get the "bad guys"?
From the Fascist Perspective
Larken Rose
Here's a response to Supporting the Troops
September 12, 2008 -
I'm often tempted to quote things I get from statists, because they
make such outstanding examples of the insanity of "government"-
worship. But if someone sends ME an e-mail, I don't want to post
it, or even a piece of it, for all the world to see, because it
feels unfair to do so without their permission. This time, however,
the statist DARED me to do so, so I will (with his name redacted).
To be extra fair, I'll include his entire rant, unedited, below.
But there are a few points in particular that are worth examining.
1) He alleges that I blast "our" troops (personally, I don't have
any troops) because they want to "serve our country." Actually, I
blast them for initiating violence against innocent people. If all
they ever did was use defensive force, I would commend them. Heck,
I might even volunteer to give them money.
2) After talking about the feds stomping on me, and the military
stomping on foreigners, he proclaims: "That's the way it works
whether you like it or not." True enough, though it sounds like
he's implying that that's a GOOD thing. He then spouts the ultimate
state-indoctrination line: "Run for office and change it!" In other
words, if you oppose tyranny, the solution is to BECOME the tyrant --
as if working "within the system" would ever have any chance of
achieving freedom.
3) Then he asks a good question -- though it should be obvious to
anyone what my answer would be: "What would your opinion be if
someone, say your wife or child, had their ass blown to bits by
some radical who could care less about what you thought or
believed?" Well, I wouldn't like it. (Duh.) And I would go after
the person who did it. I wouldn't, however, oppress or murder his
neighbors, or his family, or his country. If I did, I would be just
as bad as he is. I don't know why anyone out of kindergarten can't
understand that.
4) The disgruntled statist then asked this: "If you had to step on
a few toes to ensure he was caught, what would you do?" Based on
the context, I think that by "stepping on toes," he means
oppressing, harassing, and murdering people. So the answer is no, I
wouldn't.
5) He then, with apparent pride, says that his son is in Iraq, not
because he wants to kill people, but because he "wanted an
education and this was the best way to get it." So he's just doing
it for the money. In other words, he's a mercenary. Personally, I
wouldn't want to admit that out loud. Frankly, I have more respect
for someone who kills based on a misguided principle, than I do for
one who just does it for cash.
6) He then complains that it's "idiots" like me "that blast
thousands of boys like him because they want to make a better life
for themselves." Um, yes. I blast car-jackers, bank robbers,
muggers, and his son, for committing violence against innocents in
order to better themselves. That makes me an idiot?
7) Then he asks: "Do you think I care about the person(s) who
almost killed my son?" Nope, and I would also bet he couldn't care
less WHY someone tried to kill his son, or what might motivate him
to try it. Now, you'll have to take my word for it that he really
did then say this: "I would be the ultimate tyrant and step on as
many toes as it took to blast his ass off the face of the earth."
Well, there you have it. That stupid attitude, coupled with the
cult worship of "authority," is why war will be with us for a very
long time. It is the EXACT mentality of the terrorists he says he
hates: I'm willing to kill innocents in order to retaliate against
the people who hurt me. Then he projects his psychoses on the rest
of the world, saying this: "I would dare say that the whole world,
save a few that would hide from their own shadow, have that same
view no matter their social status, political or religious beliefs.
Would you be any different? If so, you're not even worth being in
the same room." So if I wouldn't oppress and kill innocent people
to get the bad guys, I'm not fit to be in the same room with him.
That's okay. I'm pretty sure I don't want to be in the same room
with him.
8) He then ponders what my kids and grandkids will think of me, and
declares that "whether you're right or wrong is not what matters,
your whole life and what you represent has been nothing but
negative and that's your legacy." He didn't finish the concept, and
say what DOES matter, but right and wrong obviously aren't it. I
don't care about my "legacy," and what people THINK of me. I care
only whether I did the right thing. And if the world really
consists of lunatics like this guy, I will no doubt be hated for
opposing their totalitarian mentality. That's just fine with me.
9) And he concludes with this: "Now, if you really got balls, send
this out to your list and see what kind of response you get." So I
am. Any comments?
----------< here is his entire message >----------
I've been listening to your ranting for a long time as well as you
volunteering you and your family to be crucified by the powers to
be; and, then you tout a martyr's complex because things didn't
turn out the way you wanted. I also listen to your "intellectual"
evaluation of our modern tyrants and blast our own system's
defects. Then you have the gall to blast our troops because they
want to serve our country but are really just pawns to ensure that
our country's so-called "interests" are served, which is basically
a bully's way of pushing everyone else around. Yes, my fine, well-
thought-out rational analysis of your "history" is that you are an
idiot. You see, I don't have to conclude my analysis with a bunch
of words - one does the job just fine.
The world has always had and always will have tyrants; our system
is no different even though a democracy under the supposed guise of
a republic. Yes, the U.S. pushes people around because we can - so
what's new. So what if it's a guy who is stupid enough to spit in
the government's face and dare them to prosecute him or whether
it's a foreign country that is seen as a perfect stomping ground to
exercise some political muscle and blast the locals in the
meantime. That's the way it works whether you like it or not. Run
for office and change it!
Your views come across as purist and altruistic, but are just
opinions like the rest of us. You sound like some religious nut who
is so pious and self-righteous that no one else measures up. What
would your opinion be if someone, say your wife or child, had their
ass blown to bits by some radical who could care less about what
you thought or believed? Would you be so protective and vocal about
his rights? If you had to step on a few toes to ensure he was
caught, what would you do? My son is serving in Iraq and has almost
lost his life twice. Do you think he wants to be there and beat up
or shoot people? No. Do you think he hates the Iraqi people? No. Do
you think he is a tyrant or anarchist because he is in uniform
exercising the will of the U.S.? No. He wanted an education and
this was the best way to get it. And, it's idiots like you that
blast thousands of boys like him because they want to make a better
life for themselves. If they got to serve their country in
ignorance of it's true motives, then so be it - I support all of
them. Do you think I care about the person(s) who almost killed my
son? Duh! I would be the ultimate tyrant and step on as many toes
as it took to blast his ass off the face of the earth. I would dare
say that the whole world, save a few that would hide from their own
shadow, have that same view no matter their social status,
political or religious beliefs. Would you be any different? If so,
you're not even worth being in the same room.
Let me tell you my well-thought-out opinion of a man who spends all
his time at trying to make a point at being the top rebel against a
system that is at best unconstitutional, wasteful, onerous, but
currently politically correct. One of these days, you'll be an old
man or you'll die before you get there. Your kids will be grown and
if you're lucky, you'll have lots of grandkids. What will your kids
remember about you or what stories will you grandkids hear about
you? - Well, my dad always bitched about everything, spent time in
the pen, we had to live elsewhere for awhile, and he never spent
any time with us. He spent so much time telling everyone how bad
our country was that he never did anything to improve it.
What is the worth of a man? - How much did he make a positive
impact on others? When it boils down to it, whether you're right or
wrong is not what matters, your whole life and what you
represent has been nothing but negative and that's your legacy. The
masses won't listen to you and never will. Most of those on your
list are there because of the novelty of it all and would never
stick their neck out for you because, just like me, they think
you're an idiot. Now, if you really got balls, send this out to
your list and see what kind of response you get.
