COLLECTED SCIENTIFIC & EXEGETICAL SUPPORT FOR

SEPTEMBER 23, 2017 FULFILLMENT OF REVELATION 12:1-5 SIGN OF RAPTURE

Professor Al Rekers, Ph.D., Th.D.

On September 23, 2017, the configuration of stars (the Biblical term includes planets), sun, and moon will exactly picture what Revelation 12:1-2 describes. I’ve assembled the links to several related articles below, with brief quotes of the summarized conclusions of those articles.

“A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head.  She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth.  Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads.  Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born.  She gave birth to a son, a male child, who “will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.” And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne.”

- Revelation 12:1-5

SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE OF THIS UNIQUE SIGN APPEARING SEPTEMBER 23, 2017

Several years ago, Scott Clarke discovered from NASA astronomy software that this exact predicted configuration in the heavens has never occurred in known human history, but will occur on September 23, 2017, and will not occur again in coming centuries.  You can see Scott’s videos explaining this finding here:

Several other devout Christians have independently verified through astronomy software that the predicted alignment of the stars, sun, moon, and planets described in Revelation 12:1-5 will uniquely occur on September 23, 2017.

BIBLICAL EXEGETICAL SUPPORT FOR THE RAPTURE IN REVELATION 12

Theology Professor Dr. Michael Svigel from Dallas Theological Seminary demonstrates with Biblical exegesis that the sentence, “And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne” in Revelation 12:1-5 refers to the Rapture of the church.

https://bible.org/article/apocalypse-john-and-rapture-church-reevaluation

Professor Svigel’s scholarly article on various interpretations of the timing of the Rapture in the book of Revelation concludes:

“If the male child represents not simply the individual, Jesus Christ, but the unio mystica, the believers of every generation of the Church who are ἐν Χριστῷ, then Revelation 12:5 is the only explicit mention of the rapture of the Church in the Book of Revelation. While other passages may, in fact, imply a rapture (i.e. Rev 3:10) the event itself is not described. Revelation 12:5, which stands at the heart of the Apocalypse and which brings together the two allusions to Psalm 2:9 found at the extremes of the Book, seems an appropriate place for the rapture of the Church in a book that was written to “show his servants what must happen very soon.””

A summary of why Revelation 12:5 teaches a pre-tribulation Rapture is this PDF of Professor Michael Svigel’s PowerPoint presentation:

A short article by Daniel W. Matson (who has a masters degree from Multnomah Seminary) entitled, “Revelation 12 – Birth Before Labor?” that concludes: “Clearly then, Revelation 12:5 is the description of the Rapture of the Body of Christ to the throne of God. With the Sign of the Woman this September 23, 2017, it is time to be Rapture ready. ”

This same author wrote a brief update entitled, “Revelation 12 – The Sign for Israel” at

http://watchfortheday.org/signofisrael.html

In this article, he concludes,

“The Sign of the Woman on September 23, 2017 is therefore a sign to Israel. This means the birth of the Male-Child (Body of Christ) and its harpazo to heaven must come before this time as the Church and Israel are separate dispensations.  With the Feast of Trumpets two days before the Sign of the Woman, it would seem appropriate timing for the Rapture of the Church at this time of the Last Trump. Therefore, Israel gave birth to the Body of Christ and then the Body of Christ departs to heaven with the resumption of Israel and her tribulation yielding more offspring (Gentiles)–they both will be saved except for those who have sided with the Dragon.”

Here is a short article entitled, “…” that begins and concludes as follows, that concludes that “he child was caught unto God” in Revelation 12:5 uses a Greek word for child that is not applied to the adult Jesus Christ, and is a term for a group of people—namely the true church:

Rev 12:5 KJV) "And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne."

The translation "man-child" in Rev 12:5 is from the Greek "arsen huios" while the word "child" in the same verse has been translated from "teknon." Thus we have two different Greek words that have both been translated as "child."

man-child = arsen huois

child = teknon

…..

John nor the bible ever refer to Jesus as 'teknon.' If Rev 12:5 is referring to the ascension of Jesus Christ to God's throne, then it is the only time in the scriptures that 'teknon' was used in reference to Jesus.

'Teknon,' when not speaking in general terms, is most commonly used to refer to the church or believers of God.

The word 'harpazo' refers to a snatching away, and is epecially used when referring to the rapture.

“The Revelation 12 Sign Compendium  This article begins:

“By now you've probably heard about what a number of Christians are calling the Revelation 12 Sign that will supposedly occur on Saturday, September 23rd, 2017.  There is a lot of rampant speculation on the internet both for and against the legitimacy of this sign and much information to weed through.  What's true?  What's false?  Is this all hype?  The goal of this article is to provide readers with a comprehensive and straightforward analysis of the purported sign, addressing many questions and concerns.”

This article concludes: “I encourage you to be extremely watchful this Fall [2017], especially on September 23rd, October 13th, and November 13th.  ”

A film to be released later in February 2017 on the convergence of prophetic signs of Daniel’s 70th week for Israel, known as “the tribulation”:

http://thecomingconvergence.com

All the Old Testament and New Testament predictive prophecies of the coming “Days of Vengeance,” Daniel’s 70th week, the geopolitical nations around a re-established nation of Israel, and conditions of the world prior to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ have now converged, and the Revelation 12:1-2 sign will occur September 23, 2017.  We have every Biblical reason to expect the Resurrection/Rapture very soon.

CONCLUSION WITH ADDITIONAL EVIDENCE:

So numerous devout Christians have established through astronomy software that the predicted alignment of the stars, sun, moon, and planets described in Revelation 12:1-5 will uniquely occur on September 23, 2017. That scientific fact combined with theology professor Michael Svigel's detailed exegesis of Revelation 12:1-5 in the context of Isaiah that shows that the corporate figures depicted include the rapture of the church.

Some recent YouTube video links provide more insight into that "great sign" in the heavens. Regarding Revelation 12:4-5, the following YouTube video supports the Greek τέκνον (“teknon”) as referring corporately to the genuine church in Scripture and υἱός (“huios”) as referring to Jesus Christ by giving numerous other New Testament uses of those terms. This YouTube author states that he agrees with Professor Michael Svigel's main point but that he “disagrees” with on one detail; however, he really seems to be substantially agreeing with Professor Svigel and giving even more support to τέκνον (“teknon”) referring corporately to born again believers being raptured (ἁρπάζωharpazo”) in connection with the “great sign” (σημεῖον μέγα) in the heavens of Revelation 12. Another YouTube video explains the common misinterpretation of “no man knows the day or hour” when taken in context of Jesus’ commands to “watch,” explained in terms of the Jewish customs of NT times:Revelation 12, The Feast of Trumpets 2017, and No Man Knows.

We should watch to see if the September 23, 2017 sign of Revelation 12 is visible during the day because it occurs together with fulfillment of the prophecy of Amos 8:9, which reads:
"And it shall come to pass in that day," says the Lord God, "that I will make
the sun go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in broad daylight."

If the complete “great sign” of Revelation 12 does indeed occur as identified by many observers who use astronomy software of the constellations and movements of the sun, moon, and planets,  with a mid-day blackening of the sun as described in Amos 8:9, then the predicted “great sign” marks the timing of the corporate rapture of the church.

Note that Bible prophecy commentators such as J.D. Farag, Scott Clarke (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC01LQqj9YtMTsSa4dxMHLdQ), Robert Breaker (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xn_l2yS6H2o) and Steve Cioccalanti (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XA6JcY-ikec&t=40s) only conclude that the rapture may very well happen in connection with this Revelation 12 sign on September 23, 2017, without making a more definitive statement, perhaps waiting to see if the complete sign will have indeed “appeared" visibly that day "in heaven” as Revelation 12:1 predicts.

As a "Berean" studying the Scriptures to see if what a teacher states is true to Scriptures, I have not found that everything these YouTube authors state to be accurate to Scripture, but their main points regarding the issues above do match what the predictive prophecies of Scriptures teach.

Revelation 22:20-21  He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.
